20th Anniversary 2008

The Club celebrated its 20th anniversary on the 17th of January.
Approximatly 80 current and former members with wives girlfriends etc, attended filling Napier Place Community Hall as full as we have seeen it for a long time.
The Club Founder, David Bache, gave a short talk on how he set up the club with help from four others - Richard Abbott, Stewart Hatch, Derek Parmenter and Ron Brown. These founder members were also present.

Tim Hadley, who joined the club on the first public night and has remained with the club ever since, was M.C. and gave a very and oft humourous narration of the Clubs 20 year history.

A surprise presentation of ‘Long service’ plaques were made to Tim Hadley, Robbie Cartwright and Peter Oldknow. (Peter was unable to attend so his father-in-law, Neil Mitchell accepted it on Peter’s behalf)

As an extra, the director of Child Line (Hereward Harmony’s chosen charity for the year) presented certificates earned at our recent ‘Learn to Sing’ course, to Ray Roberts and Fergus O'Sullivan, both of whom were unable to receive their certificates when the rest of the course were presented theirs in November 2007 by the Chairman of BABS.

Light refreshments were provided. We had no less that six former Musical Directors attend the function. Some served longer than others and left the Club for mainly work reasons.

After the 3/4 hour history lesson, the evening ended as it began with current and former members singing the Polecat Songs.

Next anniversary is in 2013... our silver one!
